City Council members in San Marcos are now left to make the decision on what to do with the Rio Vista Dam. A popular spot for whitewater playboaters, one kayaker noticed cracks in the dam. According to News 8 Austin, the council initially planned to repair the cracks, but now, a Colorado firm called Recreation, Engineering, and Planning has stepped in with a new idea. "Right now we are looking at how to take an existing dam that is failing and turn it into a city park where people will want to come and sit by and swim in and tube and kayak and do all these sorts of things," says Scott Shipley, the company's engineer. A meeting will be held Wednesday at 7 PM to discuss options.
