A 34-year old Eugene woman died at the hospital Sunday after her inflatable kayak capsized near the confluence of the McKenzie and Mohawk rivers. The woman, Renee Christine Wyser-Pratte, was pinned beneath a submerged log. She was not wearing a life jacket. Wyser-Pratte was the ninth fatality on Eugene-Springfield rivers this year, according to the Associated Press. Deputies reported having to rescue three other boaters on the river Saturday. They also issued a number of citations for boaters without life jackets on their boats.
