February 28th, 2006

More than 1,400 people spent the night in the rest house at a ski resort in Yuzawa, Niigata Prefecture in Japan, just two hours from Tokyo, over the weekend. Strong winds forced the gondola to shut down around 9 PM, when the wind kicked up to about 72 kilometers per hour. According to TMCnet.com, the gondolas were fully operational again by midnight and the majority of skiers had made it to the foot of the mountain by 3 AM. The rest made it down early in the morning.
