Programming coincides with the most aggressive domestic event schedule ever, featuring 10 American events leading up to the Games. At the VISA Birds of Prey races in Beaver Creek, Colo., U.S. men came away with two victories (Daron Rahlves, downhill, Dec. 2; Bode Miller, giant slalom, Dec. 3) and two second-place finishes (Miller, DH; Rahlves, GS), plus a third (Ted Ligety, slalom, Dec. 4), a fourth (Erik Schlopy, GS) and a fifth (Rahlves, super G, Dec. 1). Adding to the historic weekend was Lindsey Kildow, who won the downhill Dec. 3 and had two other top-six finishes at the World Cup in Lake Louise. Three American women were in the top 10 in the downhill Dec. 2, and five in the top 14 in the super G Dec. 4.

>Moguls skiers, who just finished their final pre-season training camp in Winter Park, Colo., are prepping for their first World Cup competition Dec. 13 in Tignes, France. After a September start, aerialists have trained in Apex, B.C., and Park City, Utah, and will head to China for two World Cup comps Dec. 17-18.
Cross Country News
Cross country racers will compete in Vernon, B.C., this weekend in a World Cup pursuit and freestyle sprint. Leading the way is Carl Swenson, coming off the best World Cup weekend of his career, finishing 12th Nov. 25 in a 15K freestyle race in Kuusamo, Finland, and 11th Nov. 24, in a 15K classic.
Ski Jumping/Nordic Combined News
Todd Lodwick reached his first nordic combined podium of the season Sunday, Nov. 4, finishing second in a 7.5K sprint in Lillehammer, Norway. Lodwick was fourth Dec. 3 in the individual (15K) competition, with teammate Billy Demong placing 10th.
Snowboard News
The march to Torino begins in earnest next week for U.S halfpipe riders as the Chevrolet U.S. Snowboard Grand Prix opens with two HP contests Dec. 14 and Dec. 17 in Breckenridge, Colo. Hannah Teter, already a two-time World Cup winner this season, and Lindsey Jacobellis - last year's Grand Prix overall champ - lead the army of Americans striving to make the U.S. Olympic Team.
Disabled News
After several weeks of training last month in Hintertux, Austria, the U.S. Disabled Alpine Team kicks off its season this weekend, Dec. 9-10, at The Hartford Ski Spectacular in Breckenridge, Colo., and nordic skiers head to Val di Fiemme, Italy, for their first World Cup races.
