We are pleased to confirm that the customers, staff and boats of Scuba Cat Diving in Phuket, Thailand all survived the recent tragedy without harm or injury. Although our shop suffered extensive damage, we will be running our retail operations from our Training Facility and Bar within the next few days while rebuilding of our shop premises takes place. We already have plans to extend our retail area during this rebuilding. Although our shop telephone line is currently out of operation, you can contact Scuba Cat Diving on +66 1979 2970. Our Day Trip service will resume on January 5th 2005. Of our liveaboards, Scuba Adventure is still operating – in fact it departed for a 10 day cruise on Tuesday 28th December. Initial reports from our Tour Leader, PJ, are that many of the reefs in the Similans and surrounding areas have escaped serious damage. Our other liveaboard Scuba Cat will resume normal operations on January 5th 2005. For those of you who have already made bookings, we would encourage you to make your trip as planned. We are sure that you will be heartened to see how well Phuket is doing. For those of you are considering a trip here, it is important to note that despite the recent tragic events, 95% of Phuket remains intact and is operating as normal. Although the beach front area has been affected, the Thai people and authorities have responded superbly and are working hard to bring things back to normal as soon as possible. In all other areas of Patong all businesses, including Restaurants and Hotels, are trading normally – as are those in Kata and Karon.
