Juarez Wins 12 Hours of Tsali
National Champ Takes NC Mtn Bike Race
by USACycling.org
May 27th, 2005

The first ever Specialized Bicycles 12 hours of Tsali was held May 21st at the Tsali Trails in Bryson City, NC and the near capacity team and solo race was greeted with a little mud early on but then the trail dried out nicely by noon and exposed the true beauty of this classic trail system. The 12.5 mile course was a challenge to all and it was multi world and national champion Tinker Juarez (10 laps) taking the solo overall title and the Southeastern Trek team (11 laps) took the expert class in a very competitive field. Top female soloist was Karen Mason (9 laps) and 8th overall. Many thanks to all of the sponsors that made this inaugural event such a success, like Specialized Bicycles, Maxxis tires, Ultima Replenisher, Hammer Gel, Trico seats, Deuter Hydration, Tifosi glasses, LH Thomson, Liberty Bicycles, Biowheels Bike Shop, Smoky Mountain bicycles, Fontana Village & Wildwater rafting.
