The official representatives of all European national kitesurfing organizations have combined to one international Kite Committee to organize an official European Championship for the first time in 2005: The Euro Kite (EKC) is born. During their national series, in each Belgium, Denmark, England, Portugal, and Germany, one tour stop is held as an EKC-event. This is how national qualifications offer the opportunity for more than 250 riders to join international competitions and to push themselves into higher action levels. The big final will take place in October. "It is a great opportunity to accomplish finally European standards to get the trust of all riders in a European Championships," said Peter Bloch, member of the Danish kite tour. The EKC Committee is comprised of Thilo Trefz / Germany, Peter Bloch/ Denmark, Sven Fransen and Bart Beulens / Belgium, Stef de Jong / Netherlands, Joao Correia / Portugal, Richard Gowers / England, and Xavier Russous / Greece.
