Venture Snowboards’ flagship board, the all-mountain Zephyr, has once again been named a Most Valuable Product by Future Snowboarding Magazine.

The most comprehensive snowboard test out there, Future’s 2008 product review included more than 130 boards from 40 manufacturers. The focus of the test was on all-mountain boards – boards that excel regardless of terrain, conditions, or riding style. After being waxed, detuned and covered with a special decal to ensure anonymity, the boards underwent two weeks of rigorous testing at Northstar-at-Tahoe. Only 40 boards emerged with top honors and the prestigious FSMVP rating.

After being put through its paces, Venture’s Zephyr 151 Narrow has again landed in the top ten of the Women's Premium category, taking sixth place for boards in the $400 - $550 price range. A quiver-killer in the truest sense of the word, the Zephyr is Venture’s most versatile deck. It is designed to excel in varied terrain and conditions, and performs equally well on groomers, in deep powder, or in the park and pipe.

According to the review, product testers found the Zephyr to be “stable, consistent, [and] good for big mountain descents and high-speed cruisers.” One reviewer commented that the board “absorbs turns well with responsive edges, [and is] predictable and confident,” while another stated “If it were any more poppy it’d fail the drug test!” The review also gave accolades for Venture’s environmental efforts, noting the company’s use of wind power and sustainable woods.

“We’re stoked to see the Zephyr placing with the other top performing boards out there,” says Venture’s Lisa Branner. “There’s a widespread misconception that an environmentally sensitive snowboard won’t perform as well as its conventionally produced peers. Placing in Future’s board test for the second year running debunks that notion. Quality, performance, and environmentally sensitivity can go hand in hand. You can be greener and have a ripping board at the same time.”

Founded in 1999 by the husband and wife team of Klemens and Lisa Branner, Venture is an independent, grassroots manufacturer based in Silverton, Colorado. All of Venture’s boards are handcrafted from scratch in their Colorado factory, with premium materials and meticulous attention to detail. The company pursues a dual mission: to produce superior performance snowboards while minimizing environmental impact.
