8th Annual Jabra X-Jam Host Skier-X & Boarder-X
Free, open to the public event takes places January 12-14 at Sugar Bowl Ski Resort-by Abbi Holtom
November 28th, 2006-Donner Summit, CA (November 28th, 2006)—Only a few spots remain in the 2007 Winter X Games Boarder-X and Skier-X competitions and there’s one way left to get there---the Jabra X-Jam. The final chance to earn an invitation for the Winter X Games, the Jabra X-Jam takes place January 12-14 atop the famed Mt. Judah at Sugar Bowl Ski Resort. The competition pits the nation’s top Skier-X and Boarder-X competitors against each other in one final last ditch attempt to grab a spot at the most coveted extreme sporting event in the world and line their pockets with $5,000 cash. Produced by Global Event Management (GEM), the World’s premier event production, marketing and branding company, the Jabra X-Jam features male and female competitors in both the ski and snowboard categories. Free to the public and open to all competitors, the event is similar to a Motorcycle Super-cross but on snow and focuses on the speed and agility of competitors as they make their way down a custom made course winding downhill slope littered with s-curves, table tops, banks, burms, and whoops. Success depends on speed and race tactics and can get aggressive as riders and skiers battle it out for the front position. On Friday all skiers and boarders will have a timed run for qualifying and then on Saturday and Sunday there will be moto heats of six athletes at a time and the top three from each will move until there is a winner. Past athletes who earned invitations to the X Games at the Jabra X-Jam include 4 time Olympian and X Games Gold Medalist Casey Pucket, as well as 3 time X Games gold medalist Lindsey Jacobellis, Eric Archer, Hiromi Takizawa and Pat Holland. "With an ever increasing pool of talent, we have created this event to give all competitors a fair chance to earn an invitation to the Winter X Games, based on proven results, not on self-promotion,” said Chris Schuster, President of Global Event Management. “We guarantee that the 2007 Jabra X-Jam at Sugar Bowl will feature the best athletes ever assembled in a non-invitational format.” The Jabra X-Jam is sponsored by Jabra, the leading provider of hands free communication and a major supporter of the free skiing scene. Other sponsors also include Sugar Bowl Resort, Bud Light, Red Bull, Clif Bar, Powder Magazine, Porters Sport, Tahoe Biltmore, Aline Footbeds, Zeal Optics, Ogio Bags, KRZQ-FM radio, Swany Gloves and Euro Socks. Sponsorship opportunities on all levels are still available.
