QUEBEC, May 13 /CNW Telbec/ - BOREALDESIGN and Maelströmkayak, two companies based in Quebec, have signed a very promising partnership agreement. Henceforth, BOREALDESIGN will manufacture two models of kayaks originally designed and marketed by Maelströmkayak. This partnership will serve to further showcase the strength of design expertise in Quebec on the international scene, since the Vaag 174 and Vitäl 166 kayaks compare admirably with the best British kayaks in their category in terms of design, beauty and performance. Although its production capacity is rather limited in North America, Maelströmkayak has quickly forged an enviable reputation for its kayaks. Company managers are firm believers in the quality of products made in Canada and have chosen BOREALDESIGN to manufacture their kayaks. "I am convinced that this agreement will prove profitable from all standpoints. Given the growing market response to our products, BOREALDESIGN represents the best possible alliance for us with a manufacturer for the top quality construction of its products, expertise and production capacity, but also because, like us, BOREALDESIGN is a Canadian company," declared Charles-Alexandre Desjardins, President of Maelströmkayak. In terms of product marketing, Maelströmkayak will remain the exclusive distributor of the Vaag 174 and Vitäl 166 in the Province of Quebec, and BOREALDESIGN will ensure their distribution throughout the rest of Canada and on the international market. The kayaks will continue to be marketed under the name of Maelströmkayak. Thanks to this new agreement, BOREALDESIGN is able to maintain all jobs within the company, which is excellent news in itself, given the current economic context that has led to massive layoffs in the manufacturing sector in Canada. This project will serve to maintain the production of these different products in Canada. Likewise, this partnership will allow BOREALDESIGN to increase its production of composite kayaks by nearly 10% and allow both companies to make additional headway on the international marketplace by offering a highly specialized product. "We are very satisfied with this new agreement that will expand our range of products and contribute to our competitiveness in a very distinctive niche market. We believe that this partnership will be highly stimulating for both companies. Despite the current economic context, we are proud to be able to continue our development and maintain all of our employees on the job." indicated Eric Blouin, President of BOREALDESIGN.
