More backcountry info is also online.

ProTrails, a leader in providing GPS-verified recreational trail information went live today with their new trail guide for Petrified Forest National Park and Painted Desert. Each detailed trail description includes a corresponding photo gallery and GPS-measured information.

"The Geology and Anthropology of Petrified Forest National Park made our field work even more interesting," says Dave Schwartz, Co-Founder of ProTrails. "To think that over 200 million years ago, this beautifully barren desert was bustling with prehistoric wildlife and raging rivers is an incredible notion."

In addition to the official park trails, ProTrails also provides waypoints for backcountry travel into both the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest sections of the national park, information found nowhere else on the Internet.

Trails and photo galleries can be found at http://www.ProTrails.com.
