A long training day turned to tragedy last Sunday on a kayaking trip between Anvil Island and Porteau Cove, 40 km north of Vancouver. Denis Fontaine and Richard Juryn both died while attempting to swim to shore in two-meter high waves and 84 kph winds, following a capsize.
